3 Key to Happiness

happy familyHappiness is state of mind.  For some, happiness is entirely determined by forces around them.  But for the truly happy people, happiness is a personal choice.  Yes, a choice. One can decide to see the glass half full or half empty.

But let’s be real.  Telling yourself you should be happy and actually feeling happy are two different things.  So, what are the top 3 factors to helping influence and define personal happiness?  They are:  Heart, Soul and Health.

    1. Heart Matters

When it comes to matters of the heart, there is nothing more important than having love in your life. A strong family infrastructure to help give you praise, unconditional love and honest feedback is a critical enabler to personal self-confidence and growth.  In absence of any immediate family, a circle of friends can fill the void and help provide an enriched feeling of care and support.  Personally for me, my family is the most important part of my life.  Leaving my native India to start my business Creative Choice Homes and live in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida was a big transition.  My family loves and encourages me. They challenge and inspire me to do even more for my business, my customers and my community.

    1. Eyes into the Soul

According to a report written by Dr. Robert Holden, if you are committed to a spiritual path in your life, you are twice as likely to say you are “very happy”. Spirituality gives you a context for your life that is greater than your ego can see. A strong spiritual faith helps you to connect to what is real, to what is here now and to what has already been given to you.  There are many distracting forces in life.  Using an outlet such as meditation and yoga can help clear one’s thoughts and connect the mind and soul.

    1. Healthy Habits

Lastly, if you don’t feel well, it is hard to put on a happy face.  Taking care of oneself means eating right, exercising properly and getting enough sleep to recharge your battery.   In our fast paced world, we are often over worked, over stressed and over stimulated.  Making time to focus on your personal health is an important step to longevity and personal happiness.

Removing stressors in your world and/or bad influences will only help improve your overall wellness.  This could be as easy as staying out of the fast food drive-thru, signing up for a group exercise class or facing more challenging issues head on like a lawsuit at work or dealing with the loss of a loved one.  A healthy body provides the right environment to love yourself, allows other to love you and to gain spiritual enrichment.  All keys to a happy and healthy live.
