The India-US Chamber of Commerce South Florida held its annual Gala at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Miami on November 15th, 2014. The event, attended by over 125 guests, was hosted to celebrate and recognize contributions of business leaders in the community.
Two Awards of Excellence were presented in the areas of social and global entrepreneurship. Dilip Barot, Founder of Creative Choice Group, received the Award of Excellence for outstanding contribution in the field of Entrepreneurship. Specifically, he was recognized for his efforts both in the US and India that have facilitated both technological and lifestyle improvements for many. Mr. Barot, a Florida resident, is a successful business leader committed to bringing affordable housing, jobs and advanced technology to communities both here and abroad. Additionally, Navroze Mehta, Founder and CEO at Impact Medical Strategies, was recognized for this work to improve the employment, educational and health care opportunities for those who are less fortunate in India.
The Chamber was honored with two guests of distinction: Ajit Kumar, Consul General of India, and Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. The Consul General came in from Atlanta and spoke about India’s new leadership andwillingness to work collaboratively with other nations. Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen also commented on the need for collaboration and cooperation on a global scale to work towards more peaceful environments.
The event concluded with news about the Chamber’s upcoming Business Network and Development Mission to Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyperabad and Delhi scheduled for early 2015. Prior to leaving, guests enjoyed a catered dinner, traditional music and dancing and a sponsored raffle provided by Qatar Airways and Taj Hotels.
